Mourning of Baldock, former double swordsman, mysteriously killed in Greece

Former Sheffield United defender George Baldock has been confirm dead at the age of 31 on Wednesday night (local).

Baldod, who was born in England but played for the Greek national team. There is found dead in the swimming pool of his home in the Jlifada area, south of Athens, according to a report from ‘SDN’.

Baldock only joined Greek Super League side Panathinaikos in the summer of 2024 after serving the Blades for over seven years. 

“We can confirm that George has sadly passed away,” the family said in a statement.

“As a family, we are deeply shocke by this terrible loss.” 

The statement from the agency is also unexpect.

“We are shock, we are shock to lose our George,” Panathinaikos said. 

“The Panathinaikos family is deeply sadden by his untimely passing,”

“Our thoughts are with George Baldock’s family and loved ones.”

Sheffield United released a statement expressing. Their condolences after learning the news about the loss of the defender who played for them between 2017 and 2024. 

“The defender left the club in the summer after more than seven years at Bramall Lane and was a popular figure among the fans, staff and team-mates who wore the ‘red and white’ shirt alongside him.”

“Everyone at Sheffield United would like to offer our deepest condolences to George’s family and friends.” 

Baldock has played four games for Panasonic this season, starting Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Olympiacos. 

For the right to play for the Greek national team through her grandmother’s nationality, she has already made 12 senior appearances. 

‘ Helenic ‘ will play the UEFA Nations League against England (10 Oct. ) in which Baldock was not called up for this round. The ceremony before the kick-off will be a moment of silence for mourning.
